DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1440Z May 7, 2021
SMOKE:
Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Texas, New Mexico and Mexico….
The ongoing fires over Mexico and Central America continue to produce
a large area of mostly light density smoke that extends from offshore
the Florida east coast westward through southern and central Florida,
the southern and central Gulf of Mexico, southern and western portions of
Texas, southeastern New Mexico and through Mexico and into the Tropical
Eastern Pacific Ocean. Included in this area is an area of moderate
density smoke over portions of the western Gulf of Mexico from southeast
of southern Texas and into coastal portions of southeast Mexico. An area
of moderate density smoke was also seen along coastal sections of western
and southwestern Mexico and extending north to northwest Mexico east of
the Baja.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
