DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE:
Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley/Southeast U.S...
Numerous light to moderate density plumes from seasonal agricultural
burns were detected over eastern Kansas, central and eastern Oklahoma,
central and eastern Texas, the Lower Mississippi Valley region, and
eastward across the Southeastern U.S. to North Carolina.
SMOKE/AEROSOL:
Mexico/Northwestern Central America/Pacific Ocean South of Mexico and
Central America...
A combination of thin density smoke from seasonal fires in Mexico and
Central America and other atmospheric pollutants including aerosols from
oil/gas flaring and other industries in the region were visible over
portions of southern Mexico, northwestern Central America, and the
Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of Mexico and Central America.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
