DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Mid-West... Numerous light density smoke plumes from fire activity was seen across some of the Mid-west, most notably concentrated in southeastern North Dakota, where the small fires formed a patch of light density smoke extending into parts of Minnesota and South Dakota. The smoke plumes in North Dakota were seen extending southeast while the smoke plumes in Minnesota were seen moving eastward. Mississippi Valley... Light density smoke plumes from agricultural/seasonal burning were seen mainly concentrated in Arkansas, with other smokes plumes from fires located in states of Missouri, Louisiana and Mississippi. The smoke plumes throughout the region were extending south. Virginia... Matts Creek fire in Virginia continues to produce light density to potentially moderate smoke moving to the southeast in this evening’s analysis. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
