DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: California... As previously observed, a brush fire continued to burn in Southern California around Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. Mostly moderate density smoke was observed emanating from the fire as it fanned outwards towards the North and South over the Pacific Ocean. Pacific Northwest... As previously observed, a large amount of fire activity was witnessed throughout the Pacific Northwest with two fires in western Oregon releasing light to moderate density smoke to the west over the Pacific Ocean. No additional significant smoke was observed in the satellite imagery today due to the widespread cloud cover across the area of operations. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Southwestern Mexico/Western Gulf of Mexico... An area of light density smoke/aerosols attributed to scattered fire activity, volcanic emissions and industrial sources was observed this morning moving south through Michoacán, Guerrero and then northwest from the coast of Oaxaca along the western Gulf of Mexico where additional gas flaring emissions could be seen originating from oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche. Cardona THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
