DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Pacific Northwest/South-Central/Southeastern United States... Although numerous wildfires and seasonal burns were detected throughout the Pacific Northwest, no significant smoke was observed due in the area due to heavy cloud cover in the region today. SE Saskatchewan and SW Manitoba,Canada & North Dakota… Scattered fires throughout this region that were emitting light density smoke that was moving towards towards the NE, E, and SE. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central, Southwestern and Eastern Mexico/Western Gulf of Mexico... An area of light density smoke/aerosols attributed to scattered fire activity, volcanic emissions and industrial sources was observed today along the Central and Southwestern Pacific Coasts of Mexico extending north through southern/eastern Mexico along the coastal regions of the Western Gulf of Mexico where additional gas flaring emissions could be seen originating from oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
