DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern United States... In the southeastern United States very light agricultural burning was detected creating several light density smoke plumes in the Gulf states. The heaviest burning was around southern Louisiana which was mostly cloud covered and southern Florida just south of Lake Okeechobee with light density smoke spreading west. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Pacific Ocean... An area of light density smoke/aerosols attributed to scattered biomass burning, gas flaring activity and other industrial sources was observed this morning extending from the Bay of Campeche, across Central Mexico, and the Pacific Ocean off the southwestern Mexican coastline. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
