DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern United States... Numerous light to moderate smoke plumes produced from seasonal and agricultural burning were observed through the southeastern United states. Majority of the smoke plumes were seen moving southward across their region with the exception of smoke concentrated in Louisiana, where the smoke was moving westward before cloud cover entered the region and blocked further observations. Majority of the smoke plumes were located in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and western/southern Florida. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed along the Southwestern coastline of Mexico into the eastern Pacific Ocean and Central and Southern Mexico. This combination of smoke/aerosol may extend into the Gulf of Mexico but cloud cover prevented further analysis. Nguyen THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
