DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Arizona... A plume of light density smoke from a wildfire in central Arizona was seen blowing southwest across the state. Southeastern United States... A layer of light density remnant smoke attributed to seasonal agricultural burning throughout the Southeastern United States was observed this morning moving northeast across the region from the Gulf Coast towards the Carolinas and Atlantic Ocean. Several prescribed burns surrounding Lake Okeechobee in Southern Florida were seen emitting light-to-moderated density plumes moving north in direction before cloud cover began to obscure visibility, preventing further analysis throughout the area. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed this morning through Central and Southern Mexico’s coastal areas, extending into the eastern Pacific Ocean, Central and Southern Mexico, and parts of the western Gulf of Mexico where additional gas flaring emissions could be seen originating from oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche. Willkens THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
