DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South-Central/Southeastern United States... In the south-Central and southeastern United States agricultural burning was detected creating numerous mostly light density smoke plumes that were moving generally southwest. The heaviest burning was around southern Louisiana creating a layer of light smoke over the area. AEROSOL/SMOKE: Central and Southern Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche... An area of predominantly light density smoke and aerosols attributed to scattered agricultural burning, volcanic emissions and industrial sources throughout Central and Southern Mexico was observed today along the Mexico’s Central and Southern Pacific coasts extending west into Pacific Ocean and parts of the western Gulf of Mexico where additional gas flaring emissions could be seen originating from oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
