DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1420Z July 10, 2025
SMOKE: Alaska/Canada/North-Central United States... Wildfires continue to burn across Northwestern Alaska, Northwestern and Central Canada with widespread smoke covering Northern Alaska, large parts of Northwestern and Central Canada, and the North-Central United States. Areas of higher smoke concentration are found moving northeastward along Central Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Western Ontario and over the Hudson Bay. California/Nevada/Utah... The large Mount Irish Fire in southern Nevada remains active this morning with smoke being dispersed towards the northeast into Utah. Lighter density smoke was extending further and merging with smoke from the Canadian fires. Additional wildfires in Northern California were also seen producing moderate smoke near the sources with a lighter density plume extending eastward where it merges with that from Nevada. DUST: Tropical Atlantic Ocean and eastern Caribbean Islands…. An area of Saharan Dust was seen over portions of the Tropical Atlantic Ocean extending west into the eastern Caribbean. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
