DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Minnesota… Scattered fires were active producing smoke across north central CONUS in the upper Midwest drifting south-southeastward. Florida… A fire in Broward County, Florida was observed producing smoke drifting eastward. SMOKE/AEROSOL: Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America/Central America... Smoke from fire activity, aerosol emissions from gas flaring and other industrial activities, as well as remnant smoke from previous days contributed to a widespread layer of light-density smoke/aerosol that was observed extending north into the Gulf and continuing eastward over the Yucatan Peninsula and Central America before drifting into the Gulf of Honduras. Light-density smoke also extended from the Mexican Gulf coast to south-central Mexico and drifted off the coasts of Mexico and Central America into the Pacific. Large fires in Jalisco were observed producing individual moderate and heavy-density smoke plumes that merged with the larger area of smoke. Large areas of moderate-density smoke were observed across Honduras and the Mexican gulf coast extending south into the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
