SATELLITE ANALYSIS AND TRENDS...GOES17 IR,WV, AND VIS IMAGERY OBSERVED A REGION OF COLD/HIGH CLOUD TOPS OFFSHORE JUST EAST OF THE HILO/BIG ISLAND REGION. RECENT RADAR TRENDS OBSERVED LIGHT TO MODERATE SHOWER ACTIVITY WITH SOME HEAVIER EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WITH IN THE TROPICAL CONVECTIVE COMPLEX. UPPER AIR SOUNDING DATA FROM PHTO OBSERVED AN INCREASE IN TPW OBSERVED 1.68" AND SBCAPE GREATER 3000 J/KG SUPPORTIVE OF AN INCREASING MOIST AND UNSTABLE ENVIRONMENT ACROSS THE REGION.

IN SHORT TERM OUTLOOK...THE TROPICAL CONVECTIVE COMPLEX CURRENTLY TO THE EAST OF THE BIG ISLAND WILL LIKELY CONTINUE TO PROGRESS FROM SOUTHEAST TO NORTHWEST. MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN OF THE BIG ISLAND WILL LIKELY INTERACT WITH TROPICAL CONVECTION PROGRESSING INTO THE REGION WHICH COULD INCREASE CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY FROM ORO-GRAPHIC LIFTING DYNAMICS LATER IN THE FORECAST PERIOD. HIGH TPW REGION WILL IMPACT THE REGION TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY. HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY WITH INCREASED CHANCES FOR HEAVIER SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY TO PROGRESS OVER THE BIG ISLAND REGION AND EVENTUALLY OAHU ISLAND LATER ON AND OR AFTER THE FORECAST PERIOD.
