SATELLITE ANALYSIS AND TRENDS...GOES WEST 17 SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS A WAVE WITHIN A MOISTURE AXIS OVER THE BIG ISLAND MOVING NORTHWARD. DIVERGENCE AND DIFFLUENCE ALOFT IS EVIDENT IN CLOUD PATTERNS AS WELL AS THE RAINFALL ESTIMATE PATTERN WITH THE GLOBAL HYDROESTIMATOR SHOWING BRIGHTER PIXELS OVER THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII WITH THE AXIS OF GREATEST RAINFALL ALONG A SSW-NNE AXIS, FROM THE SOUTHERN MOST POINT OF HAWAII ISLAND NORTH NORTHEASTWARD, WITH UPSTREAM RAINFALL APPROACHING.
SATELLITE DERIVED SURFACE MOISTURE CONVERGENCE FIELDS ARE FAVORABLE IN TERMS OF WV FLUX AND SUPPORTED IN LATEST WV IMAGERY. GFS MODEL DATA SHOWS MOISTURE FIELDS WILL BE INCREASING WITH 850MB FLOW FROM THE NORTHEAST, WHILE ACTUAL SATELLITE WV IMAGES SHOW MID LEVEL MOISTURE STREAMING IN FROM THE SOUTH WITH AN EMBEDDED WAVE WITHIN THE FLOW ADVANCING NORTHWARD WITHIN THE WV CHANNEL OVER THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII. AMSU DATA SHOWED HIGHER BRIGHTNESS TEMPERATURES OVER THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS WITH PW ESTIMATE VALUES NEAR 1.75 INCHES. BLENDED TPW SHOWED AN AXIS OF MOISTURE OVER THE HAWAIIAN ISLAND CHAIN. LATEST SATELLITE TRENDS SHOW SLOW EASTWARD ADVANCEMENT OF THE AREA OF BEST MOISTURE THAT WILL TRAVEL OVER EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE BIG ISLAND.
HEAVY RAINFALL OVER SOUTH AND EAST FACING TERRAIN AND IN MOUNTAINOUS AREAS WILL BE AREAS OF SLIGHT CONCERN REGARDING EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AMOUNTS.

SHORT TERM OUTLOOK VALID 1100-1500Z...LOW CONFIDENCE FACTOR
IN SHORT TERM OUTLOOK...ONLY A MINOR THREAT OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER THE BIG ISLAND. SATELLITE ESTIMATES HAVE PLACED OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF HOURS AN AXIS OF HEAVIER RAINFALL OVER THE CENTRAL PORTIONS OF THE BIG ISLAND, WITH EXCESSIVE RAIN RATES AT TIMES FROM THE SOUTHERN TIP OF THE BIG ISLAND NORTH NORTHEASTWARD TO THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE NORTHEAST COASTLINE OF THE BIG ISLAND. PERSISTENCE MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING ALONG THIS AXIS.
